Venice Travel Planner logo   About Tom Brosnahan
After writing 40 guidebooks to a dozen countries and regions, Tom now writes and photographs for his own travel websites, and authors novels.

Tom's first visit to Venice Florida was in 1959 when he was 14 years old.

He and his family have been Venice visitors and residents for more than half a century. The magic of Venice has changed over the years, but it is still magic.

Although it is no longer possible to walk from his Venice home to the Venice Arena to see a discounted dress rehearsal of the fabulous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and one does not see as many circus performers in Venice during the winter, the beaches and parks in Venice are better than ever, there are more and better restaurants, and all services have improved.

Simply because Tom, a travel writer and photographer, writes about places he loves and knows well.

Tom's 40 travel guidebooks for Insight, Berlitz, Frommer's and Lonely Planet, written between 1968 and 2000, covered Belize, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Guatemala, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, New England, Tunisia and Turkey. Some of these guides have been translated into more than ten languages.

In February 1994, Tom founded the Travel Info Exchange™, recipient of the gold award in the Electronic Media category of the Society of American Travel Writers' 1994 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition. In 2001 he decided to redirect all his energies from guidebook writing to travel website development. His websites to New England, France, Turkey and other destinations attract over six million visitors annually from 230+ countries.

Tom Brosnahan has served as a Contributing Editor to Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine, and has had many articles and photographs published in leading magazines and newspapers such as ASTA Travel News, BBC World, Chicago Tribune, Daily Telegraph (London), Diversion, New York Daily News, New York Times, Odyssey, Travel & Leisure, Travel Life and TWA Ambassador.

He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including ABC's Good Morning America, NPR's Talk of the Nation, the Travel Channel and PRI's The Connection. He has given lectures on Turkey at the American Turkish Council's annual conference, the Smithsonian Institution, the Cooper-Hewitt National Musem of Design, and other organizations.

He has been a consultant on tourism, public relations and online publication to Arriva World Tours, AT&T,, Burson-Marsteller, Discovery Communications, Hill & Knowlton, Nabila Tours & Cruises, Naggar Travel Group, Orion-Tour, Pacha Tours, the Quincentennial Foundation of Istanbul, Strategic Interactive Group, the Turkish Embassy, the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, Tursem Tours International, Travel in Style, Inc., and other organizations.
